Code No.201.1
Board of Directors
Organization of School Board
The Davis County Community School District Board of Directors is authorized by and derives its organization from Iowa law. The board shall consist of seven board members elected from the respective director districts in the school district. The board is organized for the purpose of setting policy and providing general direction for the Davis County Community School District.
The board shall hold its organizational meeting each year in September after the regular school election results are canvassed. The old school board shall transfer materials, including the board policy manual, and responsibility to the new school board.
The organizational meeting allows the old board to approve minutes of its previous meetings, complete unfinished business necessary to be completed by the old board, and review the school election results. The new board shall then begin. The secretary will administer the oath of office to the newly elected board members. The board, after electing a temporary president, shall elect the president and vice-president of the new board.
