Sunday Practices

Generally, the school district facilities will not be used for student activities on weekends, Sundays, or holidays.  If the facilities are used by students at these times, the following shall apply:

• The person in charge of groups returning to the building from a road trip on Friday or Saturday p.m. after the building is locked shall see to it that the building is locked soundly before they leave;

• Certified personnel shall be present at a group event or practice held during the weekend and that certified employee shall be the last to leave and lock the facility when leaving;
• The Athletic Director or coach shall designate one door only as the entrance and exit for practice during the weekend.
• Sunday practices are not allowed unless there is a district or state contest on the following Monday;
• There may be an exception for football if the team has qualified for the state playoffs.  This must have the approval of the athletic director, high school principal, and superintendent.
• Sunday practices shall abide by the following

1. Events will be held only as scheduled by the athletic director and/or principal;

2. Practices may be held only under the following restrictions:

1. Sunday practices will not include any sub-varsity personnel at any time;
2. Sunday practices will not exceed 2 hours in the building and students will not be in the building before 3:30 p.m. or after 7:00 p.m.;
3. It shall be understood by coaches, students and parents that all weekend practices are optional and that no self-imposed or outside pressures to attend shall exist.

• No high school student shall be an official or unofficial member of any non-school group using the gym;
• Any unforeseen circumstance that may merit an exception to the above guidelines or policies may be discussed with the building principal in advance, and sound judgment shall be used.

The facilities may be used by the community in compliance with board policy, “Community Use of School District Facilities.”

It shall be the responsibility of the superintendent to implement this policy.
