Scholarships & Announcements
The following scholarships are now available in the guidance office:

Seniors! The Rotary Club will award two $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors of Davis County High School. All graduating seniors may apply. Applications in Mrs. Wilfawn's office.

The Rex & Mary Lou Stewart Memorial Scholarship has been established to help graduating seniors who intend to pursue a post-secondary
education. Please get application from Mrs. Wilfawn.

Seniors who have been active in the Davis County Fine Arts Council activities may apply for the Recognition Award to be presented at Senior Awards night. Application in Mrs. Wilfawn's office.

The Future Educators of America local chapter sponsors a scholarship to a graduating senior who intends to enter the field of education. Applications available in Mrs. Wilfawn's office.

Senior students who are a member, or their parents are a member, of Davis County Cattlemen may apply for the Davis County Cattlemen's Association Scholarship. See Mrs. Wilfawn for application.

 
The Pepsi Spirit of Education scholarship is available to students who intend to major in education.

The Past Matrons of Eastern Star scholarship is available to students who have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.50 & have evidence of good citizenship.

The Optimist Club scholarship is for students who intend to continue vocational training or education beyond high school.  You must have at least a 2.25 GPA to apply.

The American Legion Auxiliary scholarship is available for students who are related directly to a veteran.

Female students who plan to enter the field of education may apply for the PEO-Peggy Arnold Memorial scholarship.

Any student who has demonstrated good civitzenship been actively involved in high school may apply for the PEO-Sullivan scholarship.


The Iowa Pork Foundation Scholarship is available to senior students who will be attending a two- or four-year college or university and studying an ag-related field with an emphasis on swine production.

The First Friday Breakfast Club scholarship is now available.  Eligible seniors may get pick up an application in the guidance office.
 
There are two scholarships available in the guidance office sponsored by CMTEL and the Rural Telephone Cooperative of Iowa.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for applications.
 
Junior students interested in studying Engineering at Iowa State University may attend a three-day summer workshop in July.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for information.
 
The Dale Schroeder Memorial Scholarship Program is dedicated to provide financial assistance for students pursuing a bachelor's degree at one of the following universities: Iowa State University, University of Iowa or University of Northern Iowa.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for information on how to apply online.
 
Junior students interested in studying Engineering at Iowa State University may attend a three-day summer workshop in July.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for information.
 
Senior students planning to enroll in a mechanical or trade course of study at an accredited Iowa Community College are encouraged to apply for the Grand Lodge of Iowa MCEC Technical Scholarship.  Applications in the guidance office.
 
If you are a senior who has been involved in co-curricular and community activities with a strong commitment to complete a bachelor's degree and have at least a 2.0 grade point average, you may qualify to apply for the Horatio Alger Scholarship.  Applications are to be submitted online by October 30.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for more information. 
 
The Iowa Newspaper Foundation has scholarships available for students preparing for a newspaper or journalism career.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for application.
 
The University of Iowa has several scholarships for incoming freshmen.  The new Iowa Scholars Award is for first-year students who are Iowa residents with an ACT composite score of 27 or above and a cumulative high school GPA of 3.80 or above on a 4.00 scale.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for information on how to apply.
 
The Governor Terry E. Branstad Iowa State Fair Scholarship recognizes outstanding Iowa high school seniors who have actively participated in the Iowa State Fair.  Up to four scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1000 are awarded each year.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for information on how to apply.
 
Senior students committed to the pursuit of automotive or truck-related studies are invited to apply for the IAD Foundation for Education 2012 Scholarship.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for application.
 
Southeastern Community College in West Burlington is offering scholarships for students planning to study electronics technology, drafting technology or the pre-engineering transfer program.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for application information.
 
The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation invites US high school students to write an essay on an act of political courage by a US elected official who served during or after 1956.  For contest information, registration, and to submit your essay, visit the Profile in Courage Essay Contest at www.jfklibrary.org.
 
Sophomore students who are interested in attending the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar need to see Mrs. Wilfawn for application. 
 
Mediacom Communications is offering $1000 scholarships to senior high school students who live in our region.  You do not need to be a Mediacom customer to apply.  Applications are available in the guidance office.
 
Seniors who have lots of community service and leadership experience can apply for the $2000 Grand Lodge of Iowa scholarship.  See Mrs. Wilfawn for application.
