TRANSPORTATION BUS RULES

Obeying the driver
Sitting in your seat
Normal talking
Keeping hands and feet to yourself
Not throwing objects
Not destroying property

On the student side of bus driving, our biggest problem is the student discipline problems. Bus drivers have a lot of responsibility of driving an 8 ton school bus with 30 to 50 students sitting behind them. Behavioral problems distract the drivers from the road and could jeopardize the safety of all the students riding. If a bus driver calls you with a student problem, please take the time to listen to the driver and help. If you have suggestions that will help your child improve in behavior, please tell the bus driver or call me at the school (664) 2200 ext. 1133.

"One Way Traffic" at Elementary School

North Street on the south side of the Elementary School is one-way traffic during the unloading and loading of bus students for the morning and afternoon routes. Parents are requested to use the parking lot south of the Middle School for picking up or dropping off their students while buses are in position. Parents should drive into and out of the parking lot from the WEST side of the parking lot. There are school employees watching the Elementary crosswalk to assist students crossing the street.

"One Way Traffic" at Middle School in the Mornings

Parents can use the West Middle School driveway in the "mornings" to unload students in the mornings. The traffic will be one-way from the North driving south past the Middle School and exiting on North Street. In the afternoon, the Middle School driveway will be only for loading buses.

Activity Bus Routes After School :

Activity bus routes take students home who are out for sports, band, and after school classes, routes leave the Middle School at 5:30 PM during fall sports and 5:40 PM from the High School.  During winter and spring activities busses leave from the Middle School at 5:20 PM and the High School at 5:30 PM

Bus drivers work hard to deliver your students home as early as possible. When we have substitute drivers, the time at home may vary greatly. We will continue to have sign-up sheets at the schools when we believe bus riders will be low.

State Law on passing School Buses

Driver meeting a School Bus The driver of any vehicle when meeting a school bus with the yellow/amber lights flashing shall reduce the speed of said vehicle to not more than twenty miles per hour, and bring vehicle to a complete stop when "RED" flashing lights come on. Driver overtaking a School Bus The driver overtaking a school bus shall not pass a school bus when the yellow/amber or red flashing lights are flashing.

Thanks for your help Last Year !

I would like to thank parents, students, bus drivers, mechanics, administrators and each school secretary for your help last year for keeping our school buses on schedule.

Substitute School Bus Drivers Needed

We need part-time substitute bus drivers. This is a fun, four-hour job. Applicants will be paid for training for the state CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) tests, learning to drive the school bus, and learning the bus driver’s duties. This is a great job for parents who have their students in school. Applicants will need to complete an application at the Transportation Office (641-664-2200 Extension 1133).
