For the 22nd year, the National Geographic
Society is holding the National Geographic Bee for students in sixth
through eighth grades in thousands of schools across the United States
and in the five U.S. territories, as well as in the Department of
Defense Dependent Schools around the world. The 2010 Bee is sponsored by
Google.
The first round of the 2010 National Geographic Bee was
held by Mrs. Cook on Wednesday January 13th after school at
the Davis County Middle School. A total of nine students participated in
grades sixth through eighth. Eighth grade student, Colton Moore won the
competition. Sara Lawson, sixth grade student, came in second.
Congratulation to all participants for excellent effort!

How Full is Your Bucket?
By Maddie Davidson and
Megan Joos
Recently Davis County Middle School has been working on a
new program called “How Full is Your bucket?” This program is designed
to teach students and staff the importance of respect, and how people
act toward one another. Every interaction you have with people can
“fill” your bucket by having a pleasant conversation or “dip” from your
bucket by having an unpleasant conversation. We believe this program
will reach out to many people by proving that giving and receiving
respect and kindness is a great feeling. We hope everyone accepts and
encourages this idea to make our school a great place to learn and have
fun.
We have 3 bus routes that leave the
school at 5:40 pm during winter activities and 5:25 pm for spring
activities to take students to designated drop-off areas who are out for
sports, band, and after school classes. Bus drivers work very hard
to deliver your students to these areas as early as possible. When
we have substitute drivers, the arrival times may vary greatly. We
will continue to have sign-up sheets at the schools when we believe bus
riders will be low. Click here for Activity
