Middle School Construction Project

Starts Monday, March 26

Exciting news!!!  We are in the final planning stages of the DCMS West Wing Construction Project.  The construction project will officially begin Monday 3/26 when safety fences will be installed.  With the construction project beginning while school is still in session, this will force us to make a few adjustments including changes to our middle school main entrance, morning drop-off and after school pick-up routines.

We appreciate your flexibility and patience as we work through these adjustments and we want you to know that it is the safety of our children that we care about more than anything.  Student safety is the driving force behind these adjustments and we greatly appreciate your flexibility and assistance in keeping our students safe.

Here is a summary of what the aerial picture indicates:

1.  The usual DCMS main entrance will be fenced off for safety and the new and temporary DCMS main entrance will shift to the southeast DCMS doors as depicted below.  This temporary main entrance will remain the DCMS main entrance through the completion of the wing project ~September 2018.

2.  The S-Curve will still be accessible for morning drop-off until 8:15 a.m.  However, we are reversing the direction of traffic flow in the S-Curve for safety reasons.  (See the aerial picture)

**The S-Curve will close daily at 8:15 a.m. and will reopen each morning for morning drop-off only.

3.  After school parent pick-up will not be allowed in the S-Curve as the S-Curve will be closed daily.  Please use N East Street, heading north preferably, to pick up your child OR identify a location away from the school to pick up your student.  We have amazing crossing guards to get your children to you safely.

Thank you again for your flexibility and patience during this adjustment period.  We will continue to keep the focus on learning and we appreciate your assistance in helping us do so.

As always, call me if you have any questions or if you need further clarification.
