The DCCSD continues to have the safety and security of our students and community as our highest priority.  Yesterday, Governor Reynolds issued a recommendation for schools to remain closed through April 30, 2020. This includes all school programming, activities and athletics. We know this is a challenging time for our students and families.

Since the school shutdown will continue, the Iowa Department of Education has given school districts three pathways for student learning:  no resources, voluntary learning opportunities or required learning.

DCCSD will continue to provide voluntary learning opportunities on our website as we have done since the shutdown began.  This allows our district to best address equity issues for our students while giving our staff/students time to become familiar with the challenges of online learning.  Please continue to have your children engage with these learning resources (links below). Teachers will be working together to continue to expand these resources and to find ways to reach out directly to students as well.  Again, we will continue to provide Voluntary Educational Enrichment Opportunities for Continuous Learning and therefore will not be required to make up school days or hours.

Given Governor Reynolds’ announcement extending the closure, the DCCSD staff and administration will evaluate next steps in the pathways set up by the Iowa Department of Education and will continue to communicate this to our families.

Our food service and transportation staff have done an amazing job of providing meals to kids.  We will continue to provide these meals to our students through the entirety of the closure.

Please continue to call 664-2200 ext. 1234 with any questions or concerns regarding food delivery or pick-up or any questions or concerns you have regarding this closure.  The above phone number will continue to serve as our main district “hotline”.

We know this is a very uncertain time.  Please reach out if we can help your family in any way.  Know that we miss our students a lot!
