"Honor Roll" System & Grading Practices

DCMS Community,

As this most unusual school year is now a month underway, the DCMS Building Leadership Team wants to continue to inform and remind our community of how we factor the Honor Roll at the conclusion of each grading period.

Here is the summary of how this process will be figured for grades 5-8 and how students can qualify for this recognition at the end of each quarter -

DCMS Award for Educational Achievement (replaces honor roll)

a) Demonstrates mastery/meeting of standard(s) consistently (All M's)

OR

b) Uses opportunities/support for improvement provided to show impressive progress toward eventual mastery/meeting of standards (One P per course)

In other words, students must exhibit high academic achievement and citizenship achievement for all standards covered during the grading period.  Option b) does allow some flexibility for students who are solidly Progressing (P) toward Meeting (M) one of the standards if all other standards are met/mastered in a course.
