Hey DC Elementary Families welcome to this month's Mental Health Minute!

This month we're continuing our discussion on the effects of media on mental health; particularly we are focusing on violent media. I used the following book to gather information on the subject: Game On! Sensible Answers about Video Games and Media Violence. It is an easy read that has a wealth of information on the hundreds of studies done on Media Violence. It can be purchased on Amazon if you'd like  more information from it.

Specific chapters referenced in this video are:

Chapter 3 - Why Should I Trust what You Say About Media Violence?
Chapter 6 - Why Should I Care About Media Violence Effects?
Chapter 19 - Are Most People Immune to the Effects of Media Violence?
Chapter 37 - Can Video Games Cause ADHD?
Chapter 46 - Do Parents and Caregivers have any Influence on the Effects of Violent Media?
Chapter 50 - Should I be Discussing Media Violence with My Children?

The research and studies done on violent media really opened my eyes to the effects they have on ours and our children's mental health. I hope the information is beneficial to you as well. Stay healthy DC Families!
