Description

Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors awarded to a high school student. Chapters across the nation strive to give practical meaning to the society's goals of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. To be eligible for membership, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.75. Members must also meet high standards of leadership, service, and character. Leadership is based on the student's participation in community and school activities. To meet the service requirement, the student must have been active in numerous service projects in the school and community. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics, and cooperation with both students and faculty. Members are evaluated by a committee of faculty and administration. No student is inducted simply because of a high grade point average. NHS strives to recognize the total student: one who excels in all of these areas.
