The Davis County High School will administer the ACCUPLACER test on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 to all SOPHOMORE students interested in taking future IHCC courses. Testing will begin at 8:30 am in the high school cafeteria. This assessment is a placement test used by Indian Hills Community College to appropriately determine whether a student is ready to take a college-level class, or if they need additional support before enrolling in credit-bearing courses. It is the intent of the district to help students understand their current skill levels and gaps, and therefore be better prepared to plan a successful path toward a college degree or career path. Students will need to have their school-issued chromebook fully charged for testing as there are very few outlets in the cafeteria. The test takes approximately two hours. Students will be excused from first and second hours for testing. If you have any questions please contact the high school office at 641-664-2200.

DCHS Parents, There are concerns regarding the restrooms at the high school. Please know that restrooms have been and continue to be available to all students at the school in all buildings during the entire school day. Due to recent vandalism in the upstairs boys restroom and multiple accounts of inappropriate behavior, the upstairs restroom was closed for repairs. Maintenance has been completed and all restrooms are now open and available. As behavior continues to be addressed, please consider having a conversation with your high school student about being respectful to property and taking care of our building. After all, the building belongs to the students and is there to serve them. If students see, hear or know of information that can help the school administration identify and stop bully-like behavior or vandalism please encourage them to report the information to an adult at the high school. It remains a priority at DCHS to create and maintain an environment where students feel safe and can learn. We appreciate your support and help in being a part of shaping our young adults into great people.

Tips for Testing: Encouragement – Help your child start the day with words of encouragement & positivity. This could be a 2-minute conversation in the morning encouraging them to do their best and recalling/sharing a happy time or memory. Sleep – Get a good night’s rest! Children between the ages of 14 and 17 function best after 8 to 10 hours of sleep per night. Breakfast – Don’t skip breakfast! Eating a healthy and filling breakfast can make you much more aware and boost your cognitive skills! Two factors that can directly impact your test performance. Students may eat breakfast at school beginning at 7:45AM.
