Remember that parent teacher conferences are this week! Conferences will be held Thursday, March 2 from 1:00 - 4:00 and 5:00 to 8:00. While you are at conferences, please take a few minutes to complete a survey giving input to the 2023-24 school calendar. We are asking each family to complete one survey. Surveys and return boxes will be found outside the office in each of the 3 buildings. If you are unable to attend conferences and would like a digital link sent to you, please request this through email to becky.zesiger@dcmustangs.com.

Due to severe weather conditions, Davis County Schools have cancelled classes for THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22. Classes will be in session on Wednesday, December 21 as scheduled.
Davis County Middle School will offer and opportunity for Middle School students to shop for friends and loved ones December 13-15th.

Parents, just a reminder if you will struggle to provide Christmas gifts for your kids this year, Davis County has a "Project I Care" program that is 30+ years old. You can pick up a form at the SIEDA office which is on S. Madison (behind the Main Street building). There is a box out front that contains the forms or the office is open Mondays and Fridays. The forms then need to be returned to the SIEDA office (there is a mail flap) by the door. Project I Care provides toys, clothing, and food. Contact the SIEDA office if you have questions, 641-664-1911. Deadline for the returned form is Nov. 21 but the deadline has been extended till Monday Nov. 28. Pickup is on December 16 at the Fairground in the morning.
Enjoy the holiday upcoming break to engage with your middle schooler! Stress can cause students to shut down, and become disengaged from peers and from their adults. Ask open ended questions to get the conversation started! Such as: When was the last time we experienced a feeling of WOW when we saw someone do something?
In what ways do any of our friends or family members leave us awestruck and how does it relate to our having tried, or not, whatever it is we are in awe of?
Let's come up with a way to deepen our appreciation for one another. "
- Some examples might be: "show me some of your most recent artwork, I have always been amazed by your artistic talents." Or " Let's make a family recipe, so I can share my passion for cooking with you!" Lastly, "How about we sit down and play a game together, it's been awhile since we've done that."
No matter what activity you choose to do with your student, the one on one time you spend with them is priceless. Be intentional, put away the devices, and really take time to listen and explore the world as they see it.
Happy Holidays,
DCMS
