On Wednesday, as part of the new teacher induction series led by Ms. Stephanie Bassett, new teachers completed their Stop the Bleed training. They practiced using tourniquets and learned the ABCs of stopping blood flow.
New Teacher Induction is a structured program to support new-to-district and new-to-profession teachers. The DCCSD program includes orientation, mentor pairing and other support.

Don't forget! Spring pictures are tomorrow!
*This is an optional Spring picture event!*

Due to road conditions, Davis County Schools will be running on a two hour delay schedule on Friday, March 11.

Yesterday, Mr. Koby Albrecht (2nd Grade) and Ms. Kelsi Sankot (Business) were on location, recruiting at the ISU Teacher Education Career Fair! Many DC teachers have graduated from this program, including Mr. Albrecht. We’re excited for the opportunities ahead, as we recruit high-quality teachers for our students.

Dear DC Elementary Parents,
Please know that Davis County Elementary School has exceeded 10% absences due to student illness for two consecutive days. As a result, the Davis County CSD Administrative Policy on Mask Wearing will be in effect at Davis County Elementary School beginning tomorrow, January 19, 2022 and through January 31, 2022. The administrative policy is attached to this message and available on the district's website.
Also please know that parents may seek an exemption for this requirement by completing the attached Student Mask Exemption Request form and returning it to the building office.
Please know that our goal is to reduce the risk of spread of illness throughout the district to help keep kids in school. While wearing a mask will not eliminate the risk of illness spread, wearing a mask can help reduce that risk.
If you have any questions or concerns relating to this matter, please contact me directly at dan.maeder@dcmustangs.com.
Sincerely,
Dan Maeder, Superintendent

Due to a shortage of personnel, please be prepared for breakfast and lunch menu changes this week. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Davis County Schools buses will be running on hard surfaces only on Monday, January 17. Click here for a map of the hard surface bus routes. https://5il.co/12xz1

Due to the incoming weather projected from the National Weather Service and significant absences of staff and students, Davis County Schools will be canceling classes for Friday, January 14. All evening activities are also canceled for Friday night. We have not made a decision on a make-up day at this time.

Dear Davis County,
Please know that absences due to illness in our schools are creeping up. Please also remember that we have implemented a policy that will require students and staff to wear masks in buildings for a period of time when the absence due to illness percentage reaches 10% for 2 consecutive days.
Here are the current number of absences due to illness as compared to the 10% threshold that would trigger mask wearing in each building:
High School: Absent due to illness = 34, 10% threshold = 38
Middle School: Absent due to illness = 23, 10% threshold = 37
Elementary: Absent due to illness = 32, 10% threshold = 48
Please see the Davis County CSD's Administrative Policy on Mask Wearing in the attached letter sent to staff, students, and parents this past October.
Sincerely,
Dan Maeder, Superintendent

Hey DC Elementary Families!
In this month's Mental Health Minute we're beginning a mini series on media. There are some pretty crazy statistics on the amount of time families are spending viewing different forms of media.
