Abby Warning Selected for Govenor's Scholar Recognition
Abby Warning was selected to represent Davis County at the Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony. The program recognizes the highest academic achieving senior selected by their school with a certificate of achievement, a certificate of appreciation for the student to give to their favorite/most influential teacher, and a recognition ceremony where the student has their photo taken with the Governor and receive a Governor’s Scholar Plaque. Abby selected Mr. Christopher Merck as her favorite/most influential teacher. Mr. Merck teaches math and science at Davis County High School.

The ceremony was held at 1:00pm, Sunday, April 27, 2025 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. The ceremony consisted of several speakers, each taking a few minutes to address the student achievers and guests. The Governor’s Office, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and its title sponsor, the Iowa Farm Bureau, presented this recognition which began in 2003.
