On Thursday, October 21st, several of the 8th grade girls participated in the Go Further Women in STEM conference at Iowa State University. Participants chose sessions to explore different career paths and areas of study in STEM fields at Iowa State to address the shortage of women in these fields in the United States. Some of the sessions our students took part in included virtual reality, building an earthquake resistant structure, collecting a local water sample to study microbes, building a hydraulic elevator, and much more.
