What a great day for a Softball Clinic! The DCHS Softball team had the opportunity to mentor 16 girls this past Saturday before the rain moved in. The day was spent working on various skills for our up and coming Softball Superstars!






Reminder - There is a freshman student/parent meeting this Wednesday, April 19th, at 6:00pm in the HS commons. This is for CURRENT freshman. Please direct questions to the HS office.

If you are looking for an evening out, come out and support our DCHS Drama Students. They will be presenting the play, "The Alibis, A Comedy Murder Mystery" on April 27th and April 28th beginning at 7:00 pm.

Davis County Softball Coaching Skills Clinic Schedule. There are still a few spots available if you didn't get signed up but would still like to participate.
If by chance there is rain, the clinic will still be held at the Mutchler Center.

IMPORTANT PROM INFORMATION
Prom is Saturday, April 22.
If students have not already done so, you must sign up for prom and after prom in the HS office before the end of the day Wednesday, April 19th. Also, due Wednesday are any guest permission forms and $10 fee for students bringing guests that are not DCHS students. Money will NOT be taken at the door and must be paid in advance.
JUNIORS that wish to help decorate will need to sign up in the office by end of the day Tuesday, April 18th, and must be passing all classes to participate. Students will decorate Thursday, April 20th, at the rec center beginning at 8am.
Promenade will be held in the HS gym beginning at 7pm. Students will meet in the band room at 6:30pm to start lining up. This event will be livestreamed on our Davis County Community Schools Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Prom will be from 8pm-11pm at the Mutchler Center. Lee’s Photography will be set up to begin pictures at 7pm and is first come, first served. Picture packets may be picked up in the HS office next week. We will have two Davis County Police officers on site during the dance.
After Prom will be in the middle school gym from midnight to approximately 4am. Students may check in to after prom early, but activities will not begin until midnight. No entry will be permitted after 12:30am. Once students leave, they will not be allowed to come back. Prize drawings will start around 3:30am. If students leave before prize drawings start, you are not eligible for prizes

DCHS students spent the morning doing community service projects in the area for Mustang Pride Day today! After all their hard work, they were served a lunch of hamburgers, chips, ice cream and water courtesy of Davis County Cattleman, Bloomfield Dollar General, Ottumwa South Hy-Vee, and the Davis County Fairgrounds. Thursday, April 13th, all students will get the chance to listen to motivational speaker, Joe Fingerhut. He will be conducting a Growth Mindset assembly. He will attend the elementary and middle school in the morning and the high school in the afternoon.

Attention Freshman Students/Parents -

Lunch will be served and students will be dismissed for the day at 12:30pm. Early dismissal is for HIGH SCHOOL students only! Catch-Up Academy will still be held with a time change of 12:30-1:45pm. Mustang Pride Day is next Wednesday, April 12!! This is a day where DC high school students have the opportunity to give back to the community that gives so much to them by providing outdoor spring cleaning services.
Several reminders to students:
PLEASE be sure to dress appropriately! Wear clothes that are okay to get dirty and tennis shoes. Please, no nice clothes or flip flops/sandals.
Bring a water bottle and sunscreen as the weather looks to be warm and sunny!
Bring work gloves and/or rakes if you have them. However, equipment will be provided.
Hamburgers, chips, water, and ice cream will be served in the HS cafeteria for lunch and students will be dismissed for the day at 12:30. Bus students may stay in the cafeteria for the afternoon if they need a place to wait for the bus.
Catch-Up Academy WILL still be held with a time change of 12:30-1:45pm.
Early dismissal is only for HIGH SCHOOL students.

There are several great summer job opportunities for high school students!
Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa is hiring for Camp Sacajawea in Boone, IA for counselors, ropes course, and lifeguard positions available this summer. (Must be 18 or older or will be 18 by June 1st )
The Bloomfield Post Office is hiring mail carriers. (Must be 18 or older)
Iowa Bridge & Culvert will be working in the Ottumwa/Centerville area this summer and is hiring laborers. Basic construction skills are desired, must be able to work 40+ hours per week, and will be offered very competitive wages.
Honey Creek Resort on Lake Rathbun is reopening under new management, two Appanoose County locals, Terry and Beth Henderson. Great employment opportunities for students interested in the fields of hospitality, Agriculture, Food Service, etc.

Students that plan to attend After Prom need to sign up in the HS office ASAP! Sign up deadline is April 1st. The committee needs to know numbers ahead of time to ensure they have enough swag bags/prizes etc.

REMINDER - Davis County High School freshman, sophomore, and juniors will be taking the standardized state tests (ISASP) Tuesday, March 28 through Thursday, March 30. Students must arrive by ***8:00AM*** to begin the assessment. Testing will end at 10AM each day. Seniors will not be testing and do not need to be at school until normal classes start at 10:08AM.
