Summer Open Gym Boys Basketball Schedule 2023
Start date: May 30th, 2023
Open to all males, grades 7 - 12, with a desire to improve in basketball
All open gyms will be held at HS gymnasium
Schedule is subject to change due to information received from HS administration

Open gym will be on Tuesdays from 0800 - 0900 on the following dates:

The week of July 4th we will have an open gym on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 11:00 am - noon.
After August 1st, open gyms will begin up again after school begins. Further communication will come about that.
Exploring Health Careers Sumer Program at IHCC!
This is a great opportunity for students to get an up-close look at a variety of different careers in health care. It is open to current sophomores and juniors, and please note that this is an exploratory program and students will not earn college credit.

Sunday, May 21, Mustang Stadium will open it’s gates at 11:30am. Commencement ceremony begins at 2pm.
The DCHS graduation ceremony will be live streamed by Ottumwa Radio Group. Congratualtions and good luck to the class of 2023!

On Wednesday, staff held a senior breakfast for the 2023 graduates. They were surprised with breakfast, a senior slideshow, well wishes cards from staff, and their 8th grade letters to themselves. A fun time was had by all celebrating their accomplishments together!

The 2023 Davis County High School Graduation Ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 2:00PM at Mustang Stadium. If there is inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the HS gymnasium. Information will be posted on Facebook and available on the website that day after 10:00 am to verify the location. We will be asking students if they have a need in their family for special seating for someone who is handicapped. to please let the office know as soon as possible. We will do everything in our power to accommodate your request.

Senior Awards Night will be held next Wednesday, May 17th at 6:00pm in the HS gym. All seniors are highly encouraged to attend. Seniors sit together in the front rows of the chairs set up in front of the stage. Caps & gowns do not need to be worn , but please dress appropriately as this is a formal event.

Baccalaureate will be held on Sunday, May 14th at 7:00pm in the High School gymnasium. Seniors/Senior Parents - Cap & gowns went home on Wednesday. Please ensure that they fit, zippers work, etc. If there are any problems please let the office know immediately. Hang them up or steam them to help them be wrinkle free! Students will wear gowns at baccalaureate (no caps). Please meet in the weight room at 6:30. You may direct any questions to the high school office at 641.664.2200 ext 1132

Students participated in DesignDash on Monday in Iowa City. This is an all-day event where students develop a business idea to "solve the world's problems in a day". Toby Hubinette's and Daphne Ikerd's team earned an award for Market Ready. Abby Warning and Olivia Kruser won an award for Understanding the Customer. Andres Sanchez' group designed a business venue that creates a safe space, away from bullies. All-in-all it was a fun day exploring entrepreneurship on the University of Iowa Campus. #mustangsmeanbusiness

Congratulations to the Davis County High School April Students of the Month sponsored by Subway! To receive this award, students are nominated by their teachers/coaches for demonstrating great character, work ethic, and responsibility, among other qualities, and presented with a Student of the Month certificate and a free 6 inch meal at Subway.

IMPORTANT PROM INFORMATION Prom is Saturday, April 22.
Promenade will be held in the HS gym beginning at 7pm. Doors open at 6:15pm. Students will meet in the band room at 6:30pm to start lining up. This event will be livestreamed on our Davis County Community Schools Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Prom will be from 8pm-11pm at the Mutchler Center. Lee’s Photography will be set up to begin pictures at 7pm and is first come, first served.. We will have two Davis County Police officers on site during the dance.
After Prom will be in the middle school gym from midnight to approximately 4am. Students may check in to after prom early, but activities will not begin until midnight. No entry will be permitted after 12:30am. Once students leave, they will not be allowed to come back. Prize drawings will start around 3:30am. If students leave before prize drawings start, you are not eligible for prizes .
