Davis County High School fully supports the following statement issued and delivered to high school students today. We encourage parents to support and uphold these expectations as well.
2019 Homecoming Statement
The Bloomfield Police Department and Davis County School District have received several complaints already this week in regard to homecoming activities. These complaints include loud noise, trespassing, theft, and more. As a school district and police department we support students enjoying their time and wanting to be involved with activities outside of school. Unfortunately, this year already, it appears as if the student body is taking the fun too far and several activities are becoming criminal in nature. Safety has to be at the forefront of everyone’s actions and the student body is ignoring this, which has been witnessed by several community members and law enforcement officers. The student body has been told by the school staff and also reminded by the school staff of the expectations. Many students have also been reminded by law enforcement of the expectations. It is clear to the police department and school district that these expectations are being ignored. This leaves us no choice other than to suspend all teepeeing activities until Thursday evening. On Thursday evening the teepeeing will end at 10:30pm. If you are seen teepeeing today or Wednesday you will be issued a citation. If a student is issued a citation the school district will also follow through with the disciplinary action within our Good Conduct Policy. This goes into effect immediately and there will be zero tolerance. We understand that most of the student body was probably following the rules laid out for them, but there are some that aren’t and this has affected everyone. On Thursday you will be given another opportunity to show that you can have fun in a safe and responsible way. The results of Thursday evening will have a big say in how homecoming will be handled next year. The following are the rules that will be set forth to ensure safety of everyone.
No riding in the bed of pick-ups or on the running boards.
You only teepee residences that you have permission from.
You will NOT be making loud and unnecessary noise while community members are trying to sleep.
All trash will be picked up including the toilet paper packaging
You will not be damaging, moving, or stealing anyone else’s property.
You will be following all appropriate traffic laws and driving in a safe manner.
If anyone has any information on the stolen campaign signs, stolen traffic cones, or any vehicles being broken into please call the police department at 641-664-2700.
