Mrs. Mason's Creative Writing students are working on a children's literature unit where they will write their own children's books. They went to the public library to explore different titles, specifically looking for themes presented in books for children ages 5-8. Margaret Nuttall, the children's services librarian, shared information about her role at the library, as well as the services the library offers to the public. Thanks for collaborating with us, Bloomfield Public Library!

Thursday, October 10th, we will crown the homecoming king and queen at Coronation in the high school gym. It will start at 7 pm and is open to the public.

Both events are open to the public. We ask for a donation of 1 canned food item that will go to our high school food pantry.

Career-Connected Learning is a focus at DCS from K to 12. Many of our courses and classrooms allow students to explore careers through guest speakers, job shadows, research and more. One message we share with our students is that it is okay to change your mind. We remind them that eliminating choices is still moving forward. Julie Buttell, thank you for sharing your story and showing students that sometimes plans change.

Many Davis County High School Alumni have inspiring careers to share. We've captured some of them and plan to share more throughout the year. Here's the first one from Deb Smith on her career at W. L. Gore (www.Gore.com/about).
Thank you to those that have already responded. Any DCHS Alumni that wish to share their story with our students, please share here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfQgat1plmxt0DC2De6w3hnuyiFUdFTPp2MepUtQUrypZCyPw/viewform

On Friday morning, September 20, Davis County Schools was made aware of a threat from a high school student through a video posted on Tik Tok. The student who made the video was NOT at school today. Officers were called and responded within two minutes. All buildings went into a lockdown status. Shortly after, it was confirmed that the threat was not credible and the lockdown was lifted. We have emergency protocols in place that worked, we appreciate everyone’s swift response. All students and staff are safe. Thank you to our law enforcement for their immediate help.

Davis County Homecoming is the week of October 7th.
Friday, October 11th is the HOCO Parade beginning at 1:30 pm. We are looking for one more convertible to host one of our classes' homecoming court winners for the parade.
If you have a convertible and would be willing to escort some of our students, please contact the HS office at 641-664-2200, ext. 1132.
Thank you!

If you are a student that travels to an IHCC campus for college classes, it’s a good idea to sign up for the IHCC Alert System, especially before the winter season! Both students and parents can register.

Yesterday, senior student government officers attended Leadership Boot Camp at Oskaloosa High School where they networked, brainstormed ideas, and participated in team building activities!

Reminder! All Davis County students taking an IHCC course, this school year, need to attend the parent/student meeting tonight at DCHS. Policies, procedures and contracts will be reviewed. Thank you for your partnership!

A message from the Food Service Department...
In order for the kitchen to accommodate your child's food allergy needs, parents must have a Diet Modification form filled out and signed by the child's physician. These must be done annually. Click here for the Diect Modification Request Form: https://5il.co/5xok
