Last Wednesday, we held our annual Induction of New Members into our chapter of the National Honor Society. Membership is welcome to juniors and seniors who exhibit strength in the four areas of scholarship, service, character, and leadership. These 14 students representing the classes of 2025 and 2026 will join our current membership of 13 seniors. This is one of the country's oldest honor societies and our chapter has been in existence for decades. Congratulations, students!

Please take a moment this week, American Education Week, to say "thank you" to our Davis County Mustang personnel! American Education Week is hosted be the National Education Association to "honor the team of people who work in our nation’s public schools, everyone from the bus driver and classroom teacher to the cafeteria worker and administrative staff, plus countless others."

This Alumni Spotlight is on Sarah Cline -she loves leading teams and helping others grow in their careers!

Veterans Day Assembly at the high school is organized by National Honor Society. This year, our own Mr. Shane Blake was the guest speaker. We also had special guests Aaron Cook and Oliver Hernandez share about their experience with a reenactment last summer. We thank our NHS students for putting on such a meaningful event.
The Davis County Dance Team will be showcasing all of their hard work in preparation for State Competitions this Sunday, November 17th at 4 pm in Centerville at Lakeview Elementary. Come out and show your support for these hard working dancers!

Attending conferences is a great way to get to know all the faces your student sees every day of school. We look forward to seeing some of you tonight!

Reminder for Senior Parents: FAFSA and Scholarship Information Meeting is Thursday at 6pm.
What is the FAFSA? Colleges and career/trade schools use the FAFSA form to determine how much financial aid you're eligible to receive, which could include grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans. (That's right, the FAFSA could lead to grants and scholarships - which are free monies!)

Solutions over problems. Kelly Prickett from IHCC Regional Entrepreneurship Center visited with our Intro to Business students during their unit on entrepreneurship. They wrote down all the "problems" they could think of and worked to reframe those problems into solution-oriented business ideas! The students will continue working through business ideas and eventually develop a true business model.

Did someone say Cattlemen's!? Seniors and their parents are invited to a FAFSA and Scholarship information meeting on Thursday, November 14 at 6PM - Davis County Cattlemen's will be serving the meal! See you Thursday.

What better way to get feedback than to ask the young students, right here at Davis County Schools!? On Monday, our Creative Writing students visited kindergarten and second grade classrooms to read children's books which they have been working on for the past few weeks. The high school students read to several small groups of students and asked for feedback from their listeners. Sharing their stories with the younger students allowed them to put the finishing touches on their project. Through our Creative Writing course, students write poems, short stories, plays, news stories, comic strips, children's books, an autobiography and other types of writing that express creativity.

Last Thursday some of our History Club Members performed skits for our Elementary Students. Theia Morgan, Bella Shauman, Charlotte Snow, Zaylee Clark, Jaxon Miller and Ryli Baker. Thank you Mrs. Slayton for taking some pictures.
