Tips for Testing: Encouragement – Help your child start the day with words of encouragement & positivity. This could be a 2-minute conversation in the morning encouraging them to do their best and recalling/sharing a happy time or memory. Sleep – Get a good night’s rest! Children between the ages of 14 and 17 function best after 8 to 10 hours of sleep per night. Breakfast – Don’t skip breakfast! Eating a healthy and filling breakfast can make you much more aware and boost your cognitive skills! Two factors that can directly impact your test performance. Students may eat breakfast at school beginning at 7:45AM.

We'd like to thank Anne at the Bloomfield Public Library for accommodating Mrs. Mason's Creative Writing students this morning. These high school students are exploring themes in children's literature before they write their own children's stories. We are lucky to have such a great facility in our community!

Dear DC Parents and Community,
The district intends to make a few changes to the school calendar to make up school days missed in January.
Currently, there are three dates missed that need to be made up; January 9th, 10th, & 23rd. The district plans to make up these missed days on March 22nd (planned make-up day), April 12th, and May 3rd. Both April 12th and May 3rd were originally scheduled as district professional development with no school for students planned.
February 16th was originally planned as a make-up day, however, because the district is hosting South Central Conference speech contest on that same day, we will not be able to have classes.
Thank you for understanding the dilemma the extreme weather in January has created for the school district.
Sincerely,
Dan Maeder
