Last week, DCHS Color Guard hosted a Mini Color Guard performance. The team choreographed and taught students in 1st through 6th grade how to perform with flags like they do for marching band. It was a great event inspiring future, potential Color Guard members! Keep an eye out for the return of this activity next year!

Coach Needed:
Davis County is searching for a boys tennis coach to lead our Mustang Boys Tennis program this spring. Practice starts March 17th. In order to coach in high school, you must have a valid Iowa coaching license. Indian Hills is offering it's next coaching authorization class for February 1st and 2nd. Several of Mrs. Byrd’s students have their monochromatic paintings on display at the Davis County Hospital. Students learned monochromatic means painting in “one color”. Thank you to Jodi Atkinson for the frames.

There is NO JV girls game tonight due to player availability for Knoxville.
On January 25th from 5-7 p.m. the Davis County High School History Club will be hosting a soup supper in conjunction with the American Legion Reed Whisler Post #78. The meal is the first of what will become a monthly venture. The history club, along with the foods class and the advanced foods class have worked in preparing a meal consisting of chili or chicken noodle soup, a roll, crackers and a dessert. Cost of the meal will be $8. The purpose of these meals is to foster a partnership between the American Legion and the Davis County High School as well as to encourage student participation in their community. The proceeds will go to the American Legion as well as the clubs/organizations that have helped in the planning, preparation and serving of the meal.
Our Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum allows students to complete computer science projects. In 8th grade PLTW project, students chose to make night-time, wearable safety gear. In 7th grade PLTW, students competed in a robotics drag race that they built and programmed - see photos.
