Due to road conditions, Davis County Schools will be running on a 2 hour delay schedule on Friday, February 25th.

8th graders Atelena Prevo, Myron Danley and Lauren Davis worked together in Mr. Robison's Project Lead The Way (PLTW) to engineer a robotic gumball machine!
Students were encouraged to create a project with two working lights and a motor. This trio had to program a micro bit ( a pocket-sized computer) to communicate with the motor, allowing the gumballs to dispense. Atelena, Myron and Lauren then used the PLTW 3D printer to print the gumball machine.
PLTW empowers DCMS students to develop in-demand, transportable knowledge and skills through pathways in computer science, engineering and biomedical science. Mr. Robison provides DCMS students with tools and resources to engage in real-world learning and technological advancements.
Fantastic job on this unique project Mustangs!

The High School Dance Showcase will be this Friday, February 25th, beginning at 7pm. It was originally at the High School but has been moved to the Middle School Gym.

Lego Masters Abby Atkinson, Canon Smith and Grady Sprouse spent their No School Day, last Friday, presenting in front of the Bloomfield Optimist Club!
Bloomfield Optimist Club President, Lyle Sterling, invited SEL Intervention Specialist, Meg Benge, and DCMS Lego Masters to discuss last month's after school club. Grady shared his passion for Legos, and the several sets he has at home. Canon stated that he enjoyed having something fun to do with his friends after school. Abbie enjoyed the challenge and being able to put her Christmas gift, a Harry Potter Lego Train Set, together while visiting with friends. Each of the students did a fantastic job conducting themselves at this meeting, held at the Livery Barn in Bloomfield.
Meg Benge stated that "...the invitation for students to present to community members in this way, was so much more than talking about Legos. Our students described feelings and tales of togetherness, creativity, and perseverance. These DCMS students showed self-confidence, communication and language skills that can only be strengthened in real world settings like these. I was so honored to be able to put our students in a room where all the attention was on them, and for these students to be able to witness an organization, like the Bloomfield Optimist Club, conduct a meeting. The procedures, the traditions, the excitement, folks working together with 1 goal in mind. It is something very few students have the opportunity to see. I can't thank the parents of these students enough, who also saw the value here. That even with chaotic morning schedules, other children, work, etc. still made it possible for their kids to attend and have this experience. Special thanks to Gary Meredith for donating a Lego set for future club use! It is clear that when the School District and Community come together, unique opportunities begin to unfold for our students. "
Way to go Mustangs!

Wyatt Hull, Davis County HS senior, was recently able to take advantage of a learning opportunity through Elder Corporation in Des Moines.
Wyatt attended a "Dine & Drive" event earlier this year, meeting people who offered him job-shadowing experience with a diesel field mechanic and a diesel shop mechanic.
Through these experiences, Wyatt has been offered summer employment in the shop for Elder Corporation while he works toward earning a diesel mechanic certificate at Indian Hills Community College. Wyatt has also guaranteed himself a job with Elder once he finishes his studies at IHCC. Some of his projects are in the photos.
Congratulations, Wyatt!
