Hey Davis County! If you find yourself shopping local this weekend, be sure to take a look at these supportive businesses who are proudly displaying DCMS Student art. We couldn't be more proud of our Students and our Community! Big shout out to Mrs.Byrd, for inspiring our Students everyday and working with these businesses to put this wonderful display together.

Congrats DCMS Artists!
It's Throwback Thursday! Last week, January 28th was not only National Lego Day, but it was also the DCMS Lego Masters Competition Day. The month of January, DCMS was busy hosting 18 teams for a total of 38 Middle School students. Lego Masters started on January 5th, and were able to bring their own Legos, all work was required to be done after school on Mondays & Wednesdays. The DCMS Lego Masters Building Competition was an extension of the DCMS After School Palooza. This means DCMS were able to provide an after school snack, and activity bus for students who needed it. This club was made possible by generous donations from local businesses, incredibly gifted students, community support, and active adult participation. Our Small Town Celebrity Judges were: Bloomfield Mayor, Chris Miller County Supervisor, Ron Bride Citizens Mutual Representative, Curtis Benge When Citizens Mutual heard about our club they generously donated 4 (1,200 piece) Classic Lego Sets. Then, M3 Fabrication donated all the prizes for our top 3 winners, and Lego brick suckers for every participant, which was sweet way to wrap up a busy month! We are also grateful for our hometown paper and news source, The Bloomfield Democrat for covering our club in the local paper! Not only did our Lego Masters have fun, they also had to "build", time management skills! Students only have 7 days (or 10 1/2 hours to create/build.) Many students also had prior commitments such as: basketball, taekwondo, and others were involved in the upcoming Middle School Play "The Snow White Variety Show". The most challenging aspect many students faced was working as a team. With challenges like teammates being quarantined, lack of resources, or the unspeakable... dropping of a major build. They always persevered. Let our Lego Masters know what you think of their creations and accomplishments in the comments below. Nice work Mustangs!

Dear DC Elementary Parents, Students, and Staff, I'm happy to report that our absences due to illness at Davis County Elementary have dropped significantly in the past few days, enough so that we'll only be asking elementary students and staff who have recently tested positive for COVID to continue wearing their masks during their individual prescribed period. Thank you all for helping the district reduce exposure to illness in the elementary. We are also seeing a decline in absences due to illness in middle school and high school. Here is today's absence due to illness percentage in each building. Elementary = 4.5% Middle School = 7.3% (Mask policy still in effect through February 8th) High School = 5.6% Please continue doing your best to help prevent the spread of illness here at Davis County CSD. Sincerely, Dan Maeder, Superintendent

Dear DC Middle School Parents & Students, Please know that Davis County Middle School has exceeded 10% absences due to student illness for two consecutive days. As a result, the Davis County CSD Administrative Policy on Mask Wearing will be in effect at Davis County Middle School beginning tomorrow, January 26, 2022 and through February 8, 2022. The administrative policy is attached to this message and available on the district's website. Also please know that parents may seek an exemption for this requirement by completing the attached Student Mask Exemption Request form and returning it to the building office. Please know that our goal is to reduce the risk of spread of illness throughout the district to help keep kids in school. While wearing a mask will not eliminate the risk of illness spread, wearing a mask can help reduce that risk. If you have any questions or concerns relating to this matter, please contact me directly at dan.maeder@dcmustangs.com. Sincerely, Dan Maeder, Superintendent DC Mask Wearing Administrative Policy - https://5il.co/145i3 DC Mask Exemption Request - https://5il.co/14fwk
