Did you know: 8 in 10 employers say social and emotional skills are the most important to success and are also the hardest skills to find? DCCSD is following the research! Research shows students who engage in SEL programs: -Perform better academically -Experience fewer conduct problems, emotional distress, and drug use -Graduate from high school and college at higher rates -Find gainful employment after school -Are less likely to experience mental health disorders -Are less likely to be involved in the juvenile justice system Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is provided to all students at DCMS in the form of Social Skills every Wednesday. Options for small groups, and more specific social skills can be offered to students as needed as well. These skills are then taught at a more advance level at DCHS, preparing each student to be the best they can be! We look forward to practicing and strengthening our social skills into the New Year! Dear Davis County, Please know that absences due to illness in our schools are creeping up. Please also remember that we have implemented a policy that will require students and staff to wear masks in buildings for a period of time when the absence due to illness percentage reaches 10% for 2 consecutive days. Here are the current number of absences due to illness as compared to the 10% threshold that would trigger mask wearing in each building: High School: Absent due to illness = 34, 10% threshold = 38 Middle School: Absent due to illness = 23, 10% threshold = 37 Elementary: Absent due to illness = 32, 10% threshold = 48 Please see the Davis County CSD's Administrative Policy on Mask Wearing in the attached letter sent to staff, students, and parents this past October. Sincerely, Dan Maeder, Superintendent https://5il.co/145i3

Due to the statement released Friday evening by the State of Iowa OSHA director and after receiving guidance from district attorneys, Davis County will not be implementing a COVID vaccine policy on Monday night. The district will pause all efforts related to the vaccine mandate until we are advised to continue doing so by legal counsel.
