Davis County High School and Middle School bands had 7 students audition for SEIBA Honor Band Saturday at Fairfield HS. To audition students must prepare pre-assigned very challenging songs and play several memorized scales before a judge. The SEIBA district includes all of southeast Iowa and does not separate students by school size. It is a very competitive, rigorous audition. The 7 students auditioning were middle schoolers Addy Ward, Lexi Evans, & Kolbi Haskell. High Schoolers were Grayson Meyer, Ella Ricardo, Owen Klaus, and Aaron Cook. Five students from DC were selected today! They will perform in a special concert at the University of Iowa School of Music Auditorium on January 25th. Congratulations! Aaron Cook, senior trombone. Owen Klaus, junior trombone. Kolbi Haskell, 8th grade clarinet. Lexi Evans, 8th grade clarinet. Addy Ward, 8th grade percussion.

It's a season of lights and that's exactly what you'd find in Mrs. Kira VanWinkle's the last week or so. Her 8th Grade students were challenged to create and light 3 buildings using a different type of circuit for each building. What a fun demonstration of learning before winter break!
